Peter H. Thomas, PhD, ABPP, NCCE

Dr. Thomas is a licensed Psychologist with Diplomate status in two areas of expertise:

– A Diplomate in Clinical Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology
– A Diplomate as a child custody evaluator from the Professional Academy of Custody Evaluators and is a Nationally Certified Custody Evaluator

Dr. Thomas has practiced in Berks County since 1973.  He was the Chief Psychologist at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center through 1980, leaving to establish his private practice.  Dr. Thomas remains a Senior Consulting Psychologist at the hospital.

Marital and family psychotherapy have been primary areas of interest and teaching for Dr. Thomas.  However, he has also worked extensively with children and adolescents, geriatrics and individual adults.   Dr. Thomas has extensive experience in conducting psychological evaluations in child custody matters.



  Laura M. Fritts, PsyD, LMFT

Dr. Fritts is a licensed clinical therapist with experience providing individual, couples and family therapy since 1986.  She holds a Psy. D. in Clinical Psychology from Immaculata University and a Master’s Degree from California State, San Bernardino.  Dr. Fritts specializes in working with adults and adolescents addressing depression, anxiety relationships, parenting and personal growth.  Intellectual and personality assessment, women’s issues and co-dependency are also areas of interest.




  J. Richard Koch, LCSW, BCD

Mr. Koch is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.  He holds a M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania.  He has practiced in Berks County since 1976 and was the Director of Clinical Social Work at the Center for Mental Health at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center from 1983 through 1999.  Mr. Koch has worked extensively with children, adolescents and adults in individual, group and marital/family psychotherapy and specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, stress, substance use, disruptive behaviors, loss and relationship issues.  In addition his to psychotherapy practice, Mr. Koch provides supervision and consultation and has a special interest in mindfulness meditation and mindfulness based stress reduction.


  Rita Miller, RN, BC, BSPA

Mrs. Miller is a licensed mental health therapist board certified in psychiatric nursing. In addition to a degree in psychology, she has more than three decades of experience in providing individual, couples and group therapy.

Formerly a clinical service coordinator, supervisor and Women’s Center consultant for The Center for Mental Health of the Reading Hospital, Mrs. Miller specializes in treating adults who are dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, loss and relational issues as well as concerns of personal growth.


Barbara Piazza, PhD

Dr. Piazza is a licensed psychologist as well as a certified school psychologist.  She holds a PhD. from Temple University and a dual Master’s Degree in School Psychology and Special Education for Socially and Emotionally Disturbed from Millersville University.  Dr. Piazza worked in the public schools for 33 years serving students in Kindergarten through grade 12.  She has extensive experience in conducting psychological evaluations for learning difficulties and behavioral issues.  Dr. Piazza also conducted psychological evaluations for students at Alvernia College, as well as collaboration with students and faculty in order to provide appropriate accommodations to enhance learning.  Dr. Piazza joined the practice in 2007, specializing in treating adolescents and adults who are dealing with stress, anxiety, loss, depression and relational issues.  She also conducts evaluations for children and adults who are experiencing learning difficulties.


  Trudy A. Weller, MA, LPC                    IMG_0821

Ms. Weller is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology.  Among her other diverse educational experiences, she attended Northeastern University for Creative Writing and The Art Institute of Boston for Design.

Trudy’s experience with children and families began with her eight-year-teaching position at HeadStart.  Her work at KidsPeace included working as a Behavioral Specialist.  She was also a clinician for Diakon Family Life Services and Catholic Charities for over ten years.

She has worked extensively with individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families.  Trudy joined Dr. Peter H. Thomas, Ph.D. and Associates continuing her work with individual adults, children and families.  She specializes in Therapeutic Supervised Visitation and Co-Parenting Education.

Her therapeutic approach includes Cognitive and Reality Therapy.  She also creates a customized approach for each client, knowing that the needs of each individual are unique.  Trudy has a genuine love of and an innate sense of caring for the people with whom she works.
